Binwhip On Top Silo

No matter what bulk commodity you work in, the BinWhip can be the most effective tool in your flow arsenal.

  • Effective on vessels of all sizes
  • Restores storage to 100% capacity
  • Hydraulically powered (no plant air required)
  • Speed and direction of cleaning head rotation is adjustable and reversible
  • Fully portable and easily movable from bin to bin, or plant to plant
  • The safest bin and silo cleaning solution on the market

*The BinWhip is designed to work hand in hand with the BinDrill when a vessel is entirely clogged.

Bin & Silo Cleaning System

The BinWhip is the most effective tool for unclogging bins, hoppers and silos in the grain, feed and cement industries.

Pneumat Systems developed the hydraulic BinWhip in 1987 to give our customers the power and performance they demand. The unique design of the BinWhip allows for the equipment to be operated from the bin top, eliminating the hazards and paperwork that confined space entry involves. The portable BinWhip helps you to reclaim valuable inventory safely, so you can get more product moving.

Bin Whip is hydraulically powered and does not require air. Only food grade hydraulic oil is used. Unlike other compressed air systems that lack power and create dust problems, BinWhip is extremely powerful, lightweight, portable, and safe.

Used throughout the world by a wide array of customers like Cargill, ADM, Cemex, Holcim and many others, the BinWhip has helped companies large and small solve their tough industrial clean out situations.

The BinWhip is effective on virtually any bulk material, including:

  • catalysts
  • cement
  • clay
  • clinker
  • coal
  • coarse ore
  • concentrate
  • coke
  • DDGs
  • feed
  • fertilizer
  • fly ash
  • hydrated lime
  • gravel
  • gypsum
  • minerals
  • paper pulp
  • pigments
  • plastics
  • powder
  • refuge
  • salt
  • sand
  • sawdust
  • slag
  • soda ash
  • soybean meal
  • talcum powder
  • wheat midds
  • wood chips
  • wood pulp

The BinWhip is powered by hydraulics, which means there is more power, better control, and less expense. Hydraulic cleaning heads deliver tremendous power, yet are safe, easy to control, and won’t damage vessel walls.

Safe, No Bin Entry

BinWhip bin cleanout. The BinWhip works from the top of the vessel, which eliminates the need for dangerous, confined space entry by employees.

BinWhip Applications

Binwhip Plugging

Combined with Pneumat’s BinDrill, plugged bins can be cleared effectively and safely.

Binwhip Ratholing

BinWhip makes quick work of eliminating ratholes from silos and frees up dead nonflowing material.

Binwhip Bridging

When material is broken but bridges above the vessel opening, BinWhip and BinDrill will make the material flow.

Binwhip Build Up

When material hangs up on the sides of the bin, BinWhip knocks material away from the walls, restoring the vessel to full capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hydraulic power is much more powerful in terms of torque and hitting power – at all speeds. It doesn’t bog down at low speeds. Full hitting torque is available at slower controllable speeds to keep the whips in the product with the power to knock things loose.

Air is compressible so it depends on high speed to generate hitting power, which makes controlling the cleaning head difficult. If not operated properly an air whip will spend much of it’s time in mid-air not doing any work. And when an air whip does hit product it slows down, especially in tough material.

Hydraulic powered whip rotation is reversible. This is very desirable, as the whiphead will pull one direction depending on rotation direction. Changing rotation to guide the whip into a tough corner or to expand a cut to the wall, or if a temp cable happens to become entangled, reversing rotation can back off the hydraulic powered whip. Not possible with an air powered whip.

ONE simple power source is all that is needed – electricity. NO air compressor to rent or buy. NO high air consumption tying up plant air systems for other functions in the plant. Other air powered units need both electrical AND air power sources to operate.

Air powered whips, exhaust high volumes of compressed-air into the bin that creates even more dust as material is worked loose.

Hydraulically power units have a lower rate of whip wear. Air powered units rely on high speeds to generate power which creates higher amounts of friction, heat and wear on the whips. The ability to operate hydraulic powered whips at slower speeds increases whip life up to 4 times.

All hydraulic fluid used in our hydraulic powered equipment is food grade so IF a spill should occur, no hazardous material is released. Air motors need lubrication to operate, so as a result they are continually exhausting oil during normal operation.
